I used to try really hard to do Rice, until I heard Rick.
I'm sure this has probably been posted before, but someone may have missed it.

Another great interview with David B.

Those California jam sessions get some serious talent through the doors. There's more great harp players in that area than you could shake a stick at. Not to mention all the great guitarists, drummers, bass players and pianists around those parts too.

What I really like about the first vid is the "correctness" of the band, especially the rhythm guitar playing by both. Lovely tone as well. No one in the band overplays. They just hit the pocket from the git and cruise right along. I also particularly like the big guy with the LP. He's playing tasty stuff in the rhythm and the fills and when thrown the solo cuts loose. All this gives space to what Rick is up to.

If this is what a local jam in northern California is like, I gotta get my ass out there.

LSC - That "big guy with the LP" is Kid Andersen. He plays with Rick and the Nightcats. Kid is a great player. The other guitarist is Johnny Cat. The rhythm section is Frank DeRose on bass and June Core on drums. All of those guys are top level pro players and really know their shit when it comes to playing behind harp. They all understand that the service of the song is what's the most important thing. Staying in the pocket and playing to the groove is a thing that many musicians (especially harp players) could do to learn.
