Well, that didn't go like planned. I finally had covers that would fit my low F harmonica with screw refit. I have gorgeous purple covers from Blue Moon Harmonicas to go with the gorgeous purple fantasy marble comb I got from Chris Reynolds. The reed plates are gorgeous sounding. The only problem was, well, when I redrilled the nail holes for screws I misaligned something. I tried fixing it with a little drilling.

The purple covers still look great. The reed plate is fine.
I can't believe I cracked the gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous comb!

:( :( :(

Chris, I don't know how much time you spend on MBH these days, but I think maybe I'll send the covers and plates to you for assembly when I order the new comb, if that's all right. I should have used the little hand cranked brain drill we have. (Don't ask.)

You should be able to super glue it back together. I've broke many custom combs myself. Once, I was opening the package, took out a gemstone comb to admire it, and immediately dropped it and broke it.

I got the same advice off list. That's a relief. :)

Yeah, just glue 'em! I've cracked a couple (dymondwood) combs. One right in half, and a comb tine of the other. Glued and clamped them and they work perfectly )no leakage, etc.). I broke them doing the same thing you did: mis-drilled and was trying to fix it. Eventually, I'll buy a drill press, but until then, I'm keeping things pretty stock when it comes to hole alignments...

Put the harmonica together before the glue dries
