My guess is that many who are here are also on Harp-L. Hopefully the moderators here won't object too strenuously if someone can, and I can't believe I need to ask this, tell me how does one post on Harp-L. On this forum it's very straightforward. On Harp-L I don't see much. I've used the
website and have been viewing posts in the archives but no link. Google groups tells me I can't post. So I verified my subscription by asking for a password reminder and got that. So I should be good to go but apparently not. Any suggestions?

Harp-L is practically stone-age in current internet technology terms. It's a listserv list. Basically you email your posts to harp-l@harp-l.org, but first you need to register to be on the list.

http://harp-l.com/mailman/listinfo/harp-l has all the info you need.

To clarify, is registering to be on the list the same as being subscribed? I am subscribed. I get emails once or twice a day that summarize recent postings and I've confirmed my password so they know who I am. Do you think I missed a step?

registering to post to harp-l via google groups has nothing to do with harp-l itself - it's about google groups in general. If you are trying to post through google groups or yahoo, then you need to sign in with a google or yahoo account first.

If you are getting the email digest then you are clearly subscribed to the list and should be able to post to it.

The best way to send a message to the list is by sending an email as I outlined above. The digest version is usually a little behind the individual messages, so if you are emailing in, it might be a while before you message shows up in a digest.

And.... If you have more than one email address, be sure to send from the address that is receiving the digests.

I seem to be functioning in Harp-L. It's something of an antique from a software perspective but highly valuable just like this forum. Thanks to the administrators here for allowing me to hijack your members for a short time.
