At least according to my ears they are given a little more bite with the part from the bicycle tube, see video.

Very cool idea, Håkan. Can't wait to try it with my Ultimate 545. Thanks!

Hmm, I think the topic title suggest that there could have been a bit of safe sex education in here. :D

Great idea Hakan. I just tried a similar thing with a piece of clear vinyl drain hose I had. It has a 1 5/8" OD and a 1 1/4" ID that fits perfectly over my sm57. I cut it 2 3/4" long, and when I put it on, I left a 1/4" lip above the top of the mic. Sort of like a bulletizer. This does make a noticable difference playing through my micro cube. Better seal, easier to hold and a noticably "thicker" sound.

It is very nice to experiment and analyze the new sound that is produced and compare it to the old one. It's fun! And simple modifications like this one is of course easy to go back to the original if you get tired of it.

I have tried some other stuff that significantly boosted the sound of one of my bullet mics. But I want to fix a little bit more first before I show that ;)
