I have a Hohner Crossover harp in A that I have had to work on a lot, as a consequence I seemed to have stripped the Philips heads on the brass cover plate screws (they are very soft). Does anyone know where I can get original replacements? Preferably in the UK.

Thanks

Martin

Here's the thing, those are not Phillip heads. They're are actually aimprovement on the Phillips design called pozidriv. You can find replacements at harpcase.com.

Libertad buy a pozidrive screwdriver.
That will fit the screws better.
They might not be stripped. There a little different than phillips heads.

Thanks everyone, I have replaced then with Seydel ones which are stainless. Perfect fit and can cope with my ham fisted ways!

All Hohners that use a Pozidriv screw, the correct screw is a Pozidriv #1.

I've been using the Hetrick screws. They are a male/female machine screw. Seydel coverplate screws will work, but they take that Posidriv head as well. The Hetrick screws are flathead, so I can open the covers with just a pocket knife if I had to.

Also, some people say using brass bolts with brass plates will give you better tone ;-)

Libertad,

often, when removing posidrive screws, if you loosen the bottom screws first it seems to work better-even if using a Phillips screwdriver. you tend get a bit more purchase on the bottom screws. i do not know why.

Seydel screws( as mentioned above are good replacement screws and also, as mentioned, are the new
Hetrick slotted post type @ harpcase.com.

the slotted post type from harpcase.com look like GM screws.
oddly, they do not fit GMs. i have a couple GMs w/out Cover plates. i'm in the process of dremeling Huang Star Performer covers to fit flush on a GM body. (Huang covers are thinner than GM covers. Perhaps more bright sounding?) maybe.. anyway, then, i'll mod Huang covers to accept harpcase.com screws.

now, if Hohner would just give me stuff.....:-) heh, heh,
