Does anyone have any experience with a Fender Bassman Compact? I do know that the amp is solid state. I would like to know if anyone has used one and can comment on the sound and tone. Not interested in hearing about how a tube amp is better, or how a tube Bassman is better, just this specific amp. Thanks.

Go plug a mike into one and try it. You will know if it has potential in about 15 minutes. If it has that unuseable transister wash cycle, you will know it in about 3 minutes. Amp modeling pedals might give you something workable.

I have never tried one, but I see 'em on Craigslist all the time. I suspect it has about as much in common with a Bassman as a Marshall MG has with a Marshall tube amp.

Let us know.

I would if I had one. That's why I am asking.

I thought you might be looking at one, rather than for one. I don't now where you are located, but one of the few advantages of this Dallas metro mess I live in is, between Craigslist and Guitar Center I can plug into just about everything and try it out. I am a little hesitant to go around wasting people's time, but if you want a review of a solid state Bassman (15" Single?) and agree to pay me 10 cents next time you see me, I could probably convince myself I had a legitimate reason. As I see it, my main problem will be convincing you my review is worth 10 cents.
