Did anyone go to this?

I understand Robert Plant performed.

Any harp playing of note?

Robert Plant is a pretty good harp player. I wonder(?), when he was trying to get a band started, when he said he was a harmonica player if they asked, "do you sing?".

I did not make Sunflower and I won't be making the one coming up in Greenville. Sugar Blue is playing the Denton Blues Festival that same weekend. Geenville is 450 miles from me, Denton is 12. I want to see if there's anything I can steal from Sugar Blue. I wonder if Robert Plant played any harmonica in Clarksdale?

did not make the sunflower fest.

Heathen, i lived in Denton for almost 14 years, from '87 through part of '01. it's where i grew into an actual harp player, singer, and musician. is there still a jam at Prairie House? that was THE place back when.

jbone,

We have probably heard each other play at the Prairie House. That was Guitar George’s jam. They tore that old barn of a building down and put in a shopping center. The Prairie House moved up the road, 1 mile west, in a new building. George tried to revive the jam at the new location a couple of years ago, but it just did not catch on.

I jammed with George recently when he was guest host at a bar down the street from me where I try to make the weekly Thurs. night.

Where are you at these days?

Is that you, Pat??

Well,

I hope Sunflower exceded everyone's expectations.

I just returned from Sugar Blue's show @ the Denton Blues Festival. All I can say is, "phenomenal!!" If he comes to your town, don’t miss him. Curtis Salgado played Saturday night. Excellent harp player but most of his set is devoted to singing. Good blues singer.

I saw John Nemeth Friday night in San Angelo. For those of you unfamiliar with the geography, that was 275 miles away from me, but worth the trip. He has a show worth catching too. He brought up 2 local harp players from the audience. 1 was quite good.

Of course all this probably means nothing without supporting evidence, but alas, I am no videographer. Trust me, go see ‘em, buy the CD’s.
