Thanks Oisin!
Chris Reynolds is a Machinist more than a harp builder. He makes nice combs but a pretty harp doesn't make for a well playing harp.
I build harmonica that LOOK, FEEL and PLAY at world-class levels. I also include an online or in person lesson with the purchase of a harp. Since my my lessons are $90/hr it's almost like getting a free harmonica.
I don't make many promises but I promise a custom harmonica will change the way you play and think of harmonicas.
the prices are $90-$175

I'm going to put a second-hand vote in for Buddha's harps after meeting Snakes & Oldwailer over this past weekend and getting to observe and hear up close the harp that Oldwailer bought from Buddha. The work was nicely done from a visual inspection, and you can't beat hearing the player remark about how smoothly and easily it plays, comparatively. It's time for me to pick my first key and check my budget plan.

I'll second Blackbird's comment. Gotta get through this current spate of tuition payments for my daughter's college and Buddha will have some of my business. Those were some nice lookin' and soundin' harps man!

I can make combs for anything. All I need is the original comb to use as a template.

I wanted to just pop in here an make a correction to what Buddha posted because I don't want there to be any confusion about my work.
It's true that I'm a machinist but I'm also every bit as much of a harp builder as anyone else in the custom community. I'm a student of Joe Spiers and have studied with him in person. I have dedicated a lot of time to working on reeds, in fact if you take my "prettiest" harp I would have spent about 3 times as long on making sure the reeds were set for optimum playability. If I had to round everything off there's more time dedicated to the reeds than the rest of the harp, the fact that I can make them as nice as I do is a testament to my time spent honing my skills in the shop.
So I'm a harp builder first, a machinist second.

Grillslinger hohner blues harps are the same size as Lee Oskar plates! If you don't mind working on it a little. I'd drill holes in the plates to fit the comb and the covers. I liked the sound of the blues harps covers opened up(folded back into the harp)

I will never, ever say a bad word about Chris Reynolds. Is he not building Howard Levy harps or something? He's not charging for it either. He has always had this problem of not charging enough for his work. I think Chris showed a lot of restraint in the reply he posted in this thread. I have never heard him say one ill word about another customizer and I've talked to him enough that if he did, I would know about it. I've talked to him enough to know that he is not some jackass banging around, he knows what he's doing. Chris is an incredible guy, and has an incredible amount of class.
I don't have a Reynolds harp here to talk about it... Wish I did, but I don't. But I think Chris problem here is modesty. He didn't broadcast everywhere "I am working on reeds now" Buddah, you are probably talking about back when he didn't do reeds. That statement may have been true then. He could do reeds, but he didn't do reeds. But I know he knew how to do it then. He just didn't do it. He is an incredible perfectionist.
