Here are some major and minor pentatonic scales. I've tabbed all available notes in each scale and bolded the tonic notes. Complete scales run between any two bold notes.

1st, 2nd and 12th major and 3rd, 4th and 5th minor were first tabbed on hvyj's profile page; I'm including them here, in a different tab scheme, for the sake of completeness.

1st Position Major Pentatonic

+1, 1, +2, 2, 3", +4, 4, +5, +6, 6, +7, 8, +8 +9, 10, +10

4th Position Minor Pentatonic
(Same notes as 1st position major pentatonic, but different tonic.)

+1, 1, +2, 2, 3", +4, 4, +5, +6, 6, +7, 8, +8 +9, 10, +10

----------------------------------------------------------

2nd Position Major Pentatonic

1, +2, 2, 3", 3, 4, +5, +6, 6, 7, 8, +8, +9, 10, +10'

5th Position Minor Pentatonic
(Same notes as 2nd position major pentatonic, but different tonic.)

1, +2, 2, 3", 3, 4, +5, +6, 6, 7, 8, +8, +9, 10, +10'

----------------------------------------------------------

3rd Position Major Pentatonic

1, +2, 2', 3", 3, 4, +5, +5o, 6, 7, 8, +8, +9', 10, +10'

(Same notes as 3rd position major pentatonic, but different tonic.)

1, +2, 2', 3", 3, 4, +5, +5o, 6, 7, 8, +8, +9', 10, +10'

----------------------------------------------------------

4th Position Major Pentatonic

1', +2, 2', 3", 3, 4', +5, +5o, 6, 7, 7o, 8, +9', 10, +10', 10o

7th Position Minor Pentatonic
(Same notes as 4th position major pentatonic, but different tonic.)

1', +2, 2', 3", 3, 4', +5, +5o, 6, 7, 7o, 8, +9', 10, +10', 10o

----------------------------------------------------------

5th Position Major Pentatonic

1', +2, 2', 3"', 3, 4', +5, +5o, 6', 7, 7o, +8, +9', 9o, +10', 10o

Please let me know if you spot any errors in this. I don't read tab so I had to figure this out as I did it.

timeistight, nicely done. And you beat me to adding hvyj's notes in your tab syntax for completeness.

timeistight, you have a few errors where you cut-and-pasted stuff and forgot to edit it, in the "Same as" comments. Ok, make that one error in the 4th position minor section.

I am checking these against the chromatic scale charts that I link to in my profile and have found the following errors:

3rd Position Major: add +8 and +10'
4th Position Major: add +10o
5th Position Major: replace 8 with +8, add +10' and +10o
11th Position Major: add +10

End of error check.

I'm editing my previous post (simplest way to do it) as I check my own tab tables, so please have a look there for further corrections. Thanks again for laying out all the pentatonic the scales the way you have.

Thanks for your thorough proof-reading, mr_so&so. I've edited the tabs to correct the errors and omissions you found.

Please let me know if I've missed anything or if you found any other errors.

My bad in correction above, +10o should be the overdraw, 10o.

BTW, I have recently been making forays in to 12th position for major key celtic songs (which are often pentatonic scale) and it didn't occur to me that the breath pattern is the same as for 3rd position minor pentatonic, until now. I found it pretty easy to play in 12th major, but now I know why, 'cause I already am pretty fluent in 3rd position. To me this info is more useful than the major scale tabs by a long shot.
