Is there a particular software program that you use to enhance your harp skills? Please share them. The method I use is easy, organized and free. Maybe this will help someone – I hope so. I use three items: Youtube, Voobys.com, VLC media player.
YOUTUBE: (free) I find it much easier to study a player’s work if I can actually watch him/her playing. Youtube is a great resource. So, first I find something I would like to study.
VOOBYS.COM: (free) I use Voobys to download the Youtube video. There’s a shortcut if anyone is interested. I have a folder for each player and the video goes to that player’s folder.
VLC Media Player: (free) Now, I play back the downloaded video with VLC Media Player. You can enhance the videos' appearance, reset the EQ and slow down the video in total or in part. Let’s say there is a particularly challenging riff you want to learn. You can isolate the Start and End points of that riff with a couple of clicks. Then, slow it down and set it to replay that riff (slowed down) over and over until you get it. Make it a bit faster, then faster, etc., until you’re up to speed. The slowing down does not change the pitch/key, and you’re always in tune. . .
