Finally I tired of dragging all over the place amp and pedalboard, bunch of power supplys and wires (especially I hate loose power wires for pedals) and I finally make a decision and bought Line6 POD HD. Actually I completely emulated my pedalboard and find a decent tones!

Just to show you possibilities here's hard amped tone. Shure SM57 + POD HD. No reverbs, no post processing.

UPD and some experimental samples. Nothing musical here, just showoff. Auto-Q, clean jazzy tone, clean jazzy tone + tap tempo delay, clean jazzy tone + octave down, whammy, hammond0organ emulation.

Do you like the tones?

Magic Dick recorded using a POD for one of his last albums. Charlie Musselwhite keeps one on hand whenever he's playing somewhere outside of the US and can't get a hold of an amp he likes or the stage is too small for another amp. They're also pretty cool little toys for practicing with headphones with. Outside of using it for recording sessions (which is what they were designed for in the first place), best way to use them in an amplified situation is either thru a PA or a keyboard amp because those are setup to be sonically neutral. I don't for the Line 6 amps because the amps they're put in colors the tones a lot differently and they weren't to my liking. It does beat lugging around amps as you get older.

I still can't see anything Boris.

Following on from Bob's post, I'm a big fan of modelling gear. I know it won't satisfy real tone hounds, but it's a really practical way of having a whole bunch of amp and effects sounds in a really compact easy to use setup.

I've got a Pod XT Live and a Spider IV 75, which I use for guitar. It's just hassle free compared to pedals, batteries, cables etc. I have a 1/4" jack and a CAT 5 cable to the pedal board to worry about.

I think this stuff should be a real consideration for those who want a cheap and easy road into the world of effected harp sounds.

I can't see the clip, but would love to hear it! I had a HD500 and really liked it. However, I ended up using it more for effects than modeling, so the M13 was a better fit.

I really like their effects modelling (although the synths are polyphonic) and think the amp tones can be really great.

Over the last 4 years I've always had L6 gear on my board - Rotomachine, DL4, M9, M13, then the HD, and now the M13 again.

I tend to be all or nothing...so for my "effects" rig, I use a very clean sound and then a ton of effects. Therefore, it is more helpful to me to have instant access to the effects and parameters. With the RP and POD stuff, I have to cycle through patches and menus to get to what I want and tweak it.

With the M13, it is like really having 12 pedals in real time. I would recommend any of this stuff based on specific application!

My "blues" rig is just a delay and Sans Amp Bass DI by contrast.

Another random thing, most modellers, including the L6 stuff have some advanced features that end up being great for harp - unless you have them accidently turned on wrong. At my gig with Adam last week, I had a noise gate on by accident that was cutting off some of my beatboxing (no one but me could tell, though).

I got it setup right now so it really helps with feedback, yet doesn't take up any effects spots!

You'll love the HD. Let me know if I can help with it. The deep parameters are confusing. I liked the mic pre and noise gate for stupid loud volumes.

The people who can't see it, what browser/operating system are you using? (I'm using Windows 7 and Google Chrome and I see it fine.)

I'll have to look. I think I uninstalled Edit, but may have patches on my work computer.

The big thing with the HD's, and I used the 500, which is a floor unit, is the gain staging. You can overload any stage and get bad clipping if you don't set them up right.

The eq options are great, but they take up effect spaces, which was really the only thing I didn't like about it - it is great for amp modeling with some basic effects, but not if you are wanting a pedalboard feel.

You can get a mint POD HD500 for about $350 used. Boris, make sure you have the 2.0 software with the mic pre and bass amp.

If people are after more of a pedal board set up, I would recommend a look at the Zoom G3. This is effectively three pedals in a row:

I am still working on sounds but I don't have enough experience of 'Classic rigs' to make comparisons.

Yes, the G3 is an *almost* perfect piece of equipment for what I want to do. It really does simulate a discrete pedal board really well. IMO, there only three things that it needs to make it truly perfect: stereo input (it already has stereo output), the ability to plug in both a foot controller and an extra stompswitch at the same time, and the ability to make the external stompswitch activate the undo/redo on the looper (which can only currently be activated by holding the third button down for half a second, thereby making it almost useless for on-the-fly layering/unlayering of two loops). Everything else about that unit is flawless.

BTW, the G5 also looks cool, with an extra FX slot and a built in foot controller for pitch and whammy fx... Actually I think putting two G3's in series/parallel would be more useful than buying a G5. But for the price of two G3's you could just by a Line 6 M13, and I know Mike gets really good sounds out of it...
