I just started overblowing in May and it helped me with my 8 hole blow bend , I use the same technique, and I love it cause I can keep my jaw dropped , but I can't do it on 9 and 10 blow , I have to bring my jaw up and it is a big change and it's slowing me down
Can anyone blow bend 9 and 10 like a 6 overblow and and 8 bend?
I really don't think it matters tone wise that my jaw has to come up on those bends i could be wrong but I don't know if it can be done another way

I maintain that learning to play valved blow and draw bends and over blows and over draws makes you refine and improve your technique for regular bends. Mitch Kashmar pointed out to me that tongue blocking forces you to become a better bender of notes as well. I play pucker style and noticed my overall technique improve as I learned to blow and draw bend with valves.

I've worked hard to play the chromatic scale all the way up while keepin the jaw dropped and throat open. When you hinge your jaw closed to make a note work, I consider it cheating.

IMHO..and I've said it before..it is all about getting the note from the throat..blow bends, draw bends, overblows, overdraws.

With much practice and muscle development it can be done.

That is why people like Ricci and Carlos can play those fast runs that include all these notes...the only thing they have to change is throat position.

Those high end blow bends are awesome with an open mouth and throat. Besides, closing your mouth changes the color and depth of your tone.

Listen to the great Carey Bell here...great high end fat tone in 1st position.

ANother lesson in less is more as well.

for what it's worth @destin... it is spelled embouchure, not that it really matters...
