david-does your method convert video files?

maybe others dont use them, but since my ipod can play videos, i transfer the lessons and other youtube clips to my ipod.

but i am always looking for other methods to do the conversion.

eharp, the instructions I have put together are to convert Quicktime video files to MP4 video, but I have also used the same settings to convert youtube videos downloaded as .flv files to MP4 so it should work for you. The downside is that the MP4 files can be much larger than the original source. One thing I like about the software is that you can process batches of videos at one time, ideal if you've downloaded few clips.

eharp - use keepvid.com it downloads the mp4 files direct. No conversion needed and because it's a free web-based service, it'll work on mac or pc.

Sorry it didn't work for you :(. There is a lot of software in the $25 to $30 range that should do the job. As for free options this was the only one I could get to work reliably, but then, I do have a very short attention span :)

I can't get keepvid.com to work recently, anybody else experiencing download problems? It downloads for 2 seconds and I get a file with a "0 bytes of ? - file doesn't exist" message. It worked very reliable until recently, but not anymore, my hardware/software set-up hasn't changed, so that's not it....

I use a program called "Tubesucker" you can down load you tube videos 1 at a time using the trial version,

It doesnt put any annoying text in the video and gives good quality. The full version lets you download loads of clips one after the other by listing them. The free version takes longer as you need to select them manually but is good as it's free.

You can also leave the down loads as FLV's or Avi's which are smaller files for use on a PC.

I have all 170+ lessons on my Ipod touch.

I cant remember where I down loaded it but you can get it here, or use google to find it-

Dutch,

I haven't tried to download something from youtube using keepvid recently. Shame because I liked that one. Another site that works is http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php . I believe you can get mp4s that way too. Hope this helps.

either use it or dispose of it, dutch. i dont offer advice or help very often and if you dont want to use it- fine. but dont try to placate me with the old "i'll use it later if i need it" line!

Sorry if I stepped on your toes here e, that was not my intention, but R's link uses the same straight forward interface as keepvid, just past the the link for the video you want to download and select the filetype you want. Your link doesn't, I first need to figure out how it works if I want to use it... that's all.
So for now I go for the easy one.... so call me easy...
If R's link for some reason stops working (as is the case with "keepvid" ) I definitely WILL try your link.. it's that simple e... and I DO appreciate you taking the time to help me (and perhaps others who are reading this) just don't assume I'm giving you lip service, because that hurts my feelings, you should better than that.. it's not like we've met here yesterday for the fist time...

I think keepivd is a good free program, but if you fail to download videos with it ,the possible casue is keepvid doesn't suppot downloading videos in that site or you need to undate java.
savemedia can deal with hundreds of videos and download YouTube videos up to HD resolution, MP3/WebM audio.
For more apps, see this one: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/best-sites-to-download-videos.html

Superbee, that's from before my first post! :)

Geordie, MrVLUN, Dutchbones (maybe from before he was a moderator?), Miles, eharp, Ryan... I think I even remember B1ueskyz. I don't remember DavidC, or ThunderfromHeaven... must have been before my time.

Welcome to the forum Demadyna!
