Hi Chris. I also am interested in this course and would like some feedback. It looks to be very comprehensive across different music genres.

i emailed tony when he first came out with the academy. he sounds like he has a good program going.

i got on his email list and have received some of the free lessons by email. these were, of course, fairly basic. they were also well laid out and could be very useful to beginners.

that is all i got about the academy.

I haven't subscribed because Adam's lessons keep me busy enough--but there is a free lesson on third position that is very helpful to me--I just go there to sponge up the free stuff now and then. . .

I like the way the lessons are laid out with the sound clips and jam tracks--I might just subscribe one of these days. . .

Yep I have subscribed for 6 months. The course offers lots of information and I have learned some quality new stuff. If I had never found Adam I would probably be a lot more impressed with it, but nothing available comes close to Mr Gussow. All said I recommend it- the only way to find out is to try!

Here's my take on it:

I found the site several months ago and thought about signing up, but kept putting it off becuase I had plenty of Gussow material to use.

Then, I felt like I was getting a little stale and definitely unstructured, so I decided to take the plunge. Based on Adam's levels, I'm an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate player. I quickly went through all 20 "freshman" lessons. 10 straight harp and 10 blues lessons. They didn't teach me much new, but having the backing tracks for practice is great and shows me that I need to work on keeping time. Now I'm looking down the list of the next 20 and expect to get a smattering of new material and stuff I already know. There are some Jam tracks that you can download and tabs for a variety of songs in different genres.

Overall, I'm pleased with it so far and expect to learn quite a bit more about Irish, Country, and Straight harp. If you are only interested in Blues harp, then the lessons here and on youtube may be all you need.

If you want some new basic Jam tracks, a little structure to your harmonica practice, and help keeping time on exercises, I give the Harmonica Academy a favorable review. I look foward to it helping me broaden my harmonica repetoire.

Hi, I have been toying with joining the Academy for the past 6 months and I received a special email Christmas /12 month offer for $20 so I am in. The course looks good is structured and covers different genres. Havn't quite worked out where to start yet ie with some I am advanced and others a raw beginner.

I think the course is good ie it is well structured and there are lots of exercises which, if I can discipline myself, will be /should be what I need. Whilst there is a stream for blues there is also strong emphasis on Irish Fiddle Tunes & Bluegrass. Too early yet to sing high praises but can partly concur with what AW has said.

Have tried other courses ie I signed up 2 yrs ago with Dave Gage(Harmonica Lessons.Com) and I found this course not as structured but excellent for explaining some theory ie terms & definitions and am quite thankful I did sign up as there is a lot of useful study material supplied which I downloaded and made hard copies to reference in textbook form.

In a mad moment a year or so ago I signed up for another downloadable course at www.harmonicaST.com. Personally I would not recommend it.

Really though I think what Adam offers is unique and is by far the best blues practical instruction available.

It has been mentioned in a very accurate writeup by Aussiesucker that this course is on sale for $20. I got it for full price. I will totally agree Aussiesucker and AW that this course (so far) has emphasis on Irish and Bluegrass. The exercises are difficult in my opinion as it requires a lot of FAST clear one note playing, but it does build up to the speed. It teaches and reinforces, I think, need for speed and accuracy.

I agree that if you are interested in Blues only, Adam's lessons are excellent. Harmonica academy will teach a lesson, have audio to play what it should sound like, an exercise, a sound track to play along with, and then a full speed version. I think it is a well structured course and is worth the price - but treat it as a lesson - it it truly structred like a school - lessons, drills, little personal touch, and a tad dry, but that's school, right?

I think it complements Adam's offerings well - different technique and approach.

I have downloaded a couple of Adam's lessons, and I enjoy them - he plays music I want to play. He gives a lot of stuff away for sure, too - my first real interest on anythign YOU TUBE was his free lessons! The difference with Adam is a personal touch and a lot of inspiration and encouragement along the way. It keeps you wanting to get better. Pure structured lessons are short on that aspect.

I signed up for Dave Gage's web site as it is an excellent reference but have not yet approached lessons there so I cannot comment on the lessons.

Well,,,,the post that brought this to my attention might be spam but it's a good topic. Anyone else try it since the last post 2 and a half years ago?

It is definitely cheaper than $17 a MONTH on BluesHarmonica.com

I was a member for for a year and I in my opinion there was not enough emphasis on learning the blues - which is what I wanted to do. He has songs to learn but they were not blues - Planxy Irwin (sp) which is not my style so I did not sign back up.

daddy- if you think the price is too high, why not try it for just a month? worse case is your belief becomes fact. best case is you realize there is more information on the site than two $10 lessons per month.

and even if you decide it aint for you - to costly, too basic, too advance, whatever- you can download a whole bunch of lessons and bt to definitely give you your money's worth and then cancel.

you dont sign up for life.

I would if I could, believe me. But, I have been unemployed since October. I like the lessons I have seen but I don't know if it is just me being site stupid or what but I didn't really see as much in the way of lessons as I thought there would be. I had the understanding that there were over 1000 video lessons but in that over 1000 videos supposedly on the site they include harp player interviews. Not that those are not worth watching. Maybe I just wasn't finding all the lessons.
