Is there, or, do i need to buy an amp specially built for harmonica playing ? or can i buy any other amp...
Where i live it would be impossible to find an amp which is built for harmonica playing.
On the other hand - there are truck loads of guiter/bass amps.
So i guess my question is - what amp is good enough to buy ?
Thanks people !

Hi Danielbs,
Go to you tube, type in 'harpsucker' and this will take you to appx. 50 demos of harps through various amp, most of which are guitar amps being used for harp.
I use a Rocktronic Tube 30, a cheap Chinese amp of which I really like the sound. Again type in 'Rocktronic Tube 30' and there is a demo of this amp on you tube.
Try the Thomann site, they do the Harley Benton amps. I have read good reviews of the GA 5watt, and it's cheap, £66.66.
They also do a GA 15watt for £109.00.
Hope this helps.

There are many guitar amps that are good choices for harp. Try to find something with lower gain and lower wattage. The new Fender Champion 600 is a good choice as well as older vintage Fender amps such as silverface Champs or Vibro Champs. Old Silvertone amps are good too. Most of the custom harp amp makers should be able to ship an amp to you? Check out Brian Purdy and harpgear.com He is a good builder and very reasonable cost.

Anyone play through an older Fender Vibrolux? seems like the perfect Harp amp on paper. I read the newer ones aren't so hot.

-----I recently purchased a Fender Super Champ. This is the Paul Rivera design. The amp has it's own spring reverb. This thing smokes and it's portable. You can send it into the mains through the direct line, mike it with one of those E-V mics like Adam featured or just play normal (18 watts) . So many roads, so many trains to ride.... Thanks to Adam and everyone else out there for all the great suggestions.

I've a Fender Champ 12 that's a Rivera designed amp and it works great for harp!

The knock on the Fender Champ 12 & Super Champ has been the fact that they are solid state rectified. So, there's no rectifier sag. Sag can be induced into the amp by introducing a "sag" resistor into the circuit.

I run a greenback speaker in mine along with 5751's for the preamp section rather than 12AX7's. I've also performed quite a few of the Torres mods to improve the amp. I really like it.
