I've got a small tube amp that sounds pretty good, but I can get a big sound I like with tons of headroom using my old solid state Realistic 100 watt PA head with my cab that has a 15" speaker and a small horn. What results could I get by using a good eq with this set up ? What other options would be good to enhance and manipulate this solid state sound ? I know I need a delay. Also is this rig to big for harp ? Thanks

An EQ pedal like the Boss GE-7 would allow you to drive the signal going into the amp and give you more "break up". You can also of course shape the tone to your liking more. I used a Boss GE-7 with a JT30 direct into the bands PA for a few years and it was a reasonably good sound.

A good multi-fx or modeling pedal would help you with both EQ and delay. One of the Digitech RP series would probably help you. Either that or a couple of seperate stompboxes like a Danelectro Fish n' Chips for EQ and maybe a Lonewolf Harp Delay or Danelectro FAB Delay. ----------

For solid state amp I'd recommend to get amp modeller (like Digitech RP of Line6 POD HD). It can sound great. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Click on my photo or my username for my music.

years ago i used to use and MXR 5 band floor pedal equalizer. it had the AC cord hard wired to it like a several old MXR devices.
it was great for boosting bass and mids and lowering highs on amps that weren't very harp friendly.
when i managed to aquire better mics and amp combinations it became obsolete. this was prior to kevins harps and rod piazza comming out with great crystal JT-30s for the average joe. also, my understanding of tube amps for harp improved. ----------

I agree with Boris, amp modelling is the way to go. The cheap and cheerful option is the Line 6 Pocket Pod. The option that I and a few others are using is the Zoom G3. For the price of a good delay pedal you can have 13 amp models and 94 effects, these can be used in a huge number of combinations. It also has a number of equalisers. I tried a harp specific delay, but ended up with the G3, for my setup I couldn't be happier. isaacullah a member on here recently did a write up.
Another option is the Digitech pedals, Richard Hunter's site is a mine of information on these http://www.hunterharp.com/
Hope this helps.
