SUZUKI Harmonicas from Japan, releases the OLIVE C-20 Diatonic Harmonica on 19th of January 2012.
It features some of the best components from different SUZUKI harmonicas, put togheter to a world class musical instrument. It is like a combination of the FIREBREATH model and MANJI model.
For me as a modern harmonica player, using all sorts of techinques and playing many genres, OLIVE works very well. OLIVE quickly took place as one of my new favourite harmonicas. SUZUKI strives for development and creativity in the history of making harmonicas - I am happy to be a part of the adventure!
The song is "Manhã de Carnaval" / "Black Orpheus". I also played the guitar part.
I love this song.
Welcome to listen to this new harmonica by SUZUKI.
So how does it sound playing a 12 bar shuffle?...very sweet tune here and exceptional playing, but how does it sound doing a boogie shuffle, i imagine very good, but just being curious.
I don't think you're a good example for show this harmonica, you would sound great with the dirtiest-cheapest chinese harmonica. I think this harmonica is a logical improvement. Some guys were changing their promaster plates for the manji ones, now they have the whole package in one harmonica. I think manji is a little bit strident then I have to try this new one.
Where the heck did Suzuki get the name Olive from? It's probably from the green coverplates but Olive? No No No just makes me think of Popeye. Didn't they ask for your opinion Brendan?
I'd like those reedplates in the harpmaster comb with the harpmaster coverplates. I assume the Olive coverplates are similar to the ProMaster ie quite heavy. The harpmaster reedplates would be nice and light.
Nice playing.
Has anyone tried putting Manji plates into the HarpMaster body?

yes, its spotwelded reeds and the tuning is ET. The cover reminds of the Promaster, but this one feels thicker. The whole harmonica feels pretty heavy. But I like that. Its has that very precision-made Suzuki feeling to it.
Bart, yes its a lovely tune. I play it in 4th position on a C-harp for everyone interested. It lays very good there.
I dont have any market/production information for it. I just have the harmonica and I love it. Thanks for all your great support and nice comments. / Filip ---------- http://www.filipjers.com
"The sound is great, but it's mainly sound of Filip and Christelle, not only instrument :o))" (Bart Leczycki). So true! If you want to convince me you made a kick arse instrument find an advanced beginner to hand it to and if they become a pro over night I'm convinced :) .
"Availability and price point would be useful. Sounds amazing. I'm looking forward to trying one " (Stevelegh). I second this. I checked a couple online shops and none have it listed for sale.
It's not even listed on their official site as a for sale item!
