From Wikipedia:

"In general, Ampeg guitar amps until 1964 are not very much wanted as they have a dark, moody sound and remain very clean, even when pushed hard. With the introduction of the Galaxy line (Gemini, Mercury, Reverberocket) in 1964, treble boost circuits and spring reverbs were added, and higher wattage models (such as the 30 watt Gemini II) were made available. Many of these models are underrated, take pedals well, and are the best buys for guitar amps from that time period."

I dunno if this helps or not...but in my experience, an amp that guitar players don't usually want can be a surprisingly good amp for harp.

The only one I know of is a Super Echo Twin, which is basically a ReverbRocket with 2 15 watt channels: one for accordian, and one for guitar or whatever.
When I played through one, I used the accordian jack. If it's got the Jensen speakers, it should sound pretty good. But, unless I'm mistaken, it's 15 watts per jack, and it's gonna be plenty loud enough for some tastes, but it's not gonna have the balls of 30-50 watt amps.
I love those old Ampegs for harp.REALLY love 'em.

Thanks,

This particular one was bought by my mate Pete Trill from the late Brian Jones. i may have to use it for the jam at our festival soon as I have been let down on the Fender Bassman :(

I've never played through an old Ampeg amp, but I know several blues guitar players that love those things. When they are in good repair, they sound pretty darn good.

I played through an Ampeg Reverb Rocket once. Fairly nice amp from what I remember.

Hi Nick,

I have a Bassman RI I could bring but I would need to store it safely somewhere overnight after the jam as I dont want to leave it in my car.I am staying in the Bristol Hotel and want to have a few scoops etc.

Let me know. If I can secure it I can bring my whole Rig for the jam. Black CR or Green Bullet Mic into Boss DD3 Delay into(Marble max Pre amp) into Bassman RI.
Let me know
Russ
