so, now you've got some killer mics to go along with your great playing. Now all you need is a tattoo or two so people will take you seriously...;-)

Nice looking mic. And that old brown bullet is a really nice size, smaller than the 707's and 520's that came after it, which are still smaller and lighter than the 520DX.

Some day, do yourself a favor and try a GOOD quality screw-on cable. Your mic will no longer have 6" of rigid appendage. Believe it or not you will feel the difference. It gives you more freedom of movement and it feels good! I keep the screw-on to 1/4" adapter in my bag in case of cable failure - but I much prefer a screw-on cable when I play. Note - there is a black art to making these cables. Poorly made ones fail in short order, but well made ones last years. And you don't interrupt your solo if you step on the cable.

Thanks Greg, i actually have a screw on cable but dont tend to use it in the house, i tend to use a really short lead just for convienience in a small room. I will take your advice and use it more, in fact i havn't tried it with Fire Pit or the last mic i bought (Brown Sugar, Old JT-30)

The only thing missing is my Magic Dick hair lol!!!!

@ Greg, i just tried my screw-on cable and it was nice, i've not really used it since i bought it with my first mic.The main thing i noticed was i got no feedback what so ever.

Ive been using a 3ft guitar lead up until now mainly because i sit right next to the amp and it stops me from geting my chair or feet tangled up in it.

As you can see from the video i got a bit of feedback with the amp just past zero with that 3ft lead, with the 20ft screw on cable i didnt get any feedback until i crank the amp waaay up 11 lol!!

Would a longer guitar cable work with the feedback issue aswell?

Ive got two 1/4" adapters(one of which Ron kindy gave me with Fire Pit) which i keep on my mic's, its really handy if i'm swapping mics over whilt practicing, just saves me having to unscrew the lead.

Ant - the feedback issue is related to how close you are to the amp (and because the amp has too much gain.) A longer cable helps get away from it, but for that particular issue it doesn't matter what type of cable it is.

Nice looking mic, very nice playing...but my OCD is getting the better of me & seems a little ironic to showcase a mic & amp with a version of an coustic number ;-)

I fully realise this is just a product of my own pedantry...I'll shut up now....for a bit at least :-)

@ANT,..
been away for awhile,..
Thanks for the Fine review of Fire Pit,..Your playing is awesome !! Still say ya need to start that blues band !!
As I say You Don't need to Break The Bank to Have a Simply Unique Mic !!

Ohh MAn,. what happened to the Magic Dick hair ??
LOL !!

Now getting to the Cable ,..had ya told me you were using was only a 3ft guitar lead,.
I'd have told you the same thing that Greg mentioned & that is to go with the 20-25 ft Cable, even a 10 ft in a small room ,.
The problem is not the 5/8" connector (which is great to use when switching between mics in a set) it is the 3ft guitar lead ,..Gotta get away from the amp as you found out <>

Yes ,.the element in Fire Pit is a Shure CR 99E86 /606
(date code 606 = 1956 - February )
Low -z with my Transform Super Boost Mod,.

It is the small 707 style shell 3-1/4" X 2-13/32"

Here is a video of the mic after paint,. as pic's don't show well:
