The Boss RV-5 gets rave reviews and is used (or has been used) by both Annie Raines, Gary Smith and Dennis Gruenling. Personally I prefer a delay pedal. If I was going to spend money on a reverb pedal though the Boss RV-5 would get my money.

Dennis uses the RV-3,not the RV-5-I also have one. Ours are modded for harp, and with a touch of reverb and delay, sound great -they are hard to come by.

For amped harp I prefer delay. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Click on my photo or my username for my music.

I've got a DigiTech DigiVerb pedal that sounds very decent for harp. Not true bypass but if you leave it on all the time, that makes no difference. Nice reverb pedal for harp--the tone is perfect.
I haven't gigged with it because my tube amps have on board reverb tanks and i like how the on board reverb sounds. i also sometimes use a bass amp that does not have any reverb but i use a delay pedal with that amp. So i don't have the need to use my DigiVerb very often, but i like it a lot.
Unlike Boris i have no strong preference for delay over reverb. one or the other is fine with me--I just don't like to play dry.

I've used one by Electro-Harmonix called the Holy Grail. It's awesome!

I'm with Boris on this one too... I like delay, but it's no big deal. My Digitech Digital Delay is a pretty heavy pedal, and I don't like haulin' it, but I do like the results. When I want to keep the load light I use a Danelectro BLT slap-echo. It's small and gets the job done, and it's about $45.
When it comes to pedals though, the results vary greatly depending on the chain... what mic, what amp, etc.
I think you gotta make sure it works with your main setup, and realize that it may not sound as good with your other mics or amps.

I periodically use a Lone Wolf Darp Delay. 95% of the time, I plug the mic into the amp.

Ditto Zack on the Holy Grail. I use that and the LW delay (not at the same time). ---------- Ozark Rich

The LW delay I can also vouch for (I use it all of the time on my pedal board or without it). Both great pedals. I do not own the Holy Grail but have used it various times for gigs (borrowed it from the guitar player). Has good tone and can give you some 'airyness.'

@Joe L: I like the tone i get using reverb or delay. Among other things, it tends to smooth out the tonal characteristics (differences) of how bent and unbent notes sound, so the overall sound of the amplified instrument becomes more even. I also tend to set up relatively clean and i like the dimension reverb or delay gives my sound. Also, although I don't use bullet mics, I do vary how I cup my mic and i take advantage of proximity effect when i do. i like the way the sound i get from overdriving the mic element interacts with the effect i get from reverb or delay--more depth and dimension to the overall sound. I also like the "smoothness" reverb or delay produces. Sometimes I like to move my tone in and out of the "envelope" created by the reverb or delay fade. It seems to fit my style of playing. But, YMMV.
You know, I particularly like the sound I get from the on board reverb tank in my Fender Super Reverb and my Fender Princeton Reverb. if i set it right, i think it produces nice depth of tone that blends really naturally with the sound of these tube amps, both of which have tube driven reverb send and recovery circuits. Btw, i originally got the DigiVerb to use for playing through the "dry" channel of the Super Reverb, but eventually i decided i liked the tone of the reverb channel better. Each channel of the Super has a distinctly different tone. The tone stacks are different on each channel, but i think it's mostly because each channel has different sized coupling caps.

I have two different ones, the Digitech Digiverb, which has a pretty decent spring reverb setting and the now long discontinued Guyatone MR-2, which I find doesn't mess the tone much at all. I'm still looking for one that ISN't modeled after the Fender outboard tube spring reverb units and is modeled after the Premier 90, which is waaaaay deeper than anything that's ever been made. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Have you tried a tape echo pedal or better yet the real deal. I use a fake fender tape echo on amplitube when I plug my mic into my iPhone.
My friend plays trough real one and it adds another layer of tube to the sound.
I think it's how these guys got they're sound too; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVmYDj5Ajug

I tried out a Boss FRV-1 '63 Fender Reverb pedal last week. It sounds pretty darn good, in fact it's the closest digital reproduction of a spring reverb that I've ever heard. Not to mention you don't have to worry about impact noises like you would with an actual spring unit like the Danelectro Spring King. ----------

I prefer delay (I use the MXR Carbon Copy analog delay), but I've tried the Boss Fender Deluxe Reverb Pedal FDR-1 and liked it a lot. Not splashy; nice tone.

I prefer true spring reverb over digital. Pedal of choice VanAmps Solemate. Don't have a delay pedal that works well for harp but plan on getting a MXR or Lone Wolf.
