I'm happy to say that it now seems extremely likely that Alex Paclin will be joining us at Hill Country Harmonica. We're in the visa-approving phase. Formal announcement to follow soon.
HCH is southern born and outward-reaching; it's a big tent. Alex is one of the most exciting new talents on the contemporary scene and I look forward to meeting him and learning a few new tricks.
Thanks to Seydel for modest promotional considerations. Our budget is tapped out, but Alex is purchasing his own plane ticket and we are giving him the run of the house and some main stage time to do what he does. I'm sure we'll be able to pull him into a breakout session or two. How about Alex and Jason Ricci talking overblows? Or Alex and P.T. Gazell hanging out and talking valved harps? Should be fun......
Oh man - Wish I could make it but a week in New Orleans (well worth it) blew the travel budget - especially if I'm gonna try to make SPAH this year.
I've slowing down disecting and trying to learn this 3'd position workout of his the last two days - highly recommended
Alex - you have room and board and a recording studio in SF if you can make a stopover. - just email me ----------

One of the things I love about Alex's playing is his sense of humor. It's obvious in the "Paclin Bros.s" video of Robbers on my Way - but it comes through on the one I linked too - in the music. It colors the whole piece. One obvious little example is @ 2:09 - an almost 'pink panther' like lick. If you missed it - @2:12 There is a very cool pic that Alex takes with his arm outstreched of himself, with Jay Gaunt in the background noodling in the parking lot. ----------
