I've found Russell Hoffer's 'hotcakes harmonica licks' yt channel pretty helpful this year.
He has a lot of classic repertoire there in quite succinct videos. Works for me!
He has helped me shortcut and improve quite a few numbers this year. It's rather remarkable how often I find he has covered just what I'm looking for.
From trouble no more, baby please don't go, got my mojo working (cotton style), and recently I see he has put up a couple of videos looking at Rocket 88.

Thanks for this. Yes does look good. I have to filter out all the awesome-youtube-speak, and the distraction of the autofocus on the camera working overtime. And the product placement and name dropping :) But that's just me. The music sounds good - and all grist to the mill.

When I was sampling his Rocket 88, up came a video from Adam from 2008, referencing the film Cadillac Records which must been released then. I like his prescription for how to play harp like in the film :)

What's the microphone he shows?

That's an electro-voice 638 or 641. Not quite sure which, both look very similar at the grill-end. 638 is more often mentioned as a harp mic if I'm right.

Russell's videos; I haven't noticed product placement but I guess I did note I could do without some of the dramatic elements. Mainly repertoire and fairly accurate renderings which I've found helpful in preparing specific numbers.

I'm gonna back away from that statement above. I think it may be a EV 619 which has been cut down. I'm still trying to positively identify it but that's my best guess so far. I can't find an exact match yet but also I realised that Adam doesn't show the mic very clearly. He shows the grill which is clearly an EV 619/634a/638/641. The rear of the mic is unlike the 634a/641 type, more like a 638 but not a 638.
The 619 is closest but that would have been a full deskstand originally, so if it is a 619 it has been cut off. This seems quite possible but I can't see the end of that part to be sure. There may be another stock EV mic of which I'm not yet aware

In what way is it cut off?

Photos I've seen show the 619 is on a deskstand which seems to be all one piece. The mic Adam shows does not have the big base on it. Maybe the photos I've seen have given me a false impression. Perhaps the 619 was in 2 pieces but fitted 'seamlessly' together. I was only 'googling' in my lunch break. But I'd say the 619 is the most like it that I've found

I'm adding text because if I post a link the spam net will grab my post.
