Last night I played for first time in front of friends.
Picked up the harmonica back in February 2015
It was the only time I had gone out for a night without taking a harp with me, (usually with the hope of plucking up the courage to play!)
Last night I was asked if I had one with me, damn, I didn't!
Then the homeowner pulled out an old Hohner pro master(nice harp I thought) in C from out of the back of her cupboard.
There I was, glass of red wine beside me, old harp in my mouth and thankfully some good friends, who would not give me a hard time for my poor playing, in front of me.
Went down well. Played 'Easy' then improvised some slow blues.
Best of all, I did not know one of the guys there played guitar and he suggested a future jam together!
I loved it!

Good one! Easy is a great tune.
Breaking the ice in a friendly situation is a good way I think. I believe I did something similar about 10 years ago or maybe a couple more, but I think it was 'chicken train' I played. Easy is a much better choice.
In fact, I recall playing Easy at an open mic, one of the first really 'public' playing experiences I had. There was a good crowd in and at some point they began cheering, probably in the 3rd chorus when the shakes come in, and I had to close my eyes to maintain composure as I could tell I was on the verge of forgetting how to play the song, due to letting the crowd reaction register too deeply. Thankfully I was able to stay focused. Very emotional but in the wrong way.

Truth - Nice. There is a concept floating around that playing to the anonymous public is where it's at. Or indeed that the only music worth listening to is going out to hear professionals play. But making music with and for friends is great.

Good thing about the wine! Congrats and jamming with a guitar player will be great.
