I've already set out my stall that I like amped-harp much more than acoustic. I think I'm swimming against the tide here! But there are so many lovely sounds to choose from. This is the place for examples.

This is my current fav: James Cotton...not everyone's cup of tea I believe!

This is one of my all-time fav sounds, by hophead75 who posts on MBH. Something special about the percussive sound of the slaps vs the soft sound of the notes. I've tried and failed to make this sound. What is the magic formula I wonder? Is it the mic, the amp, the technique or a special brew of three?

Charlie Musselwhite with a muscular, largely single-note sound.

Steve Harvell with Pignose 7-100 amps. Nice bite to the sound. When I heard this, I fancied cutting back to a setup with a pignose, mic'd into a bigger amp or PA.

Very nice roz and bee. I can't view Stockyard blues though, maybe it's a UK thing.

Here's a thing, you don't have to like them, just catalogue them!

LOVE the stockyard blues sound.
And the Kim wilson sound aswell.

Check these out.

This Record "Til Then" by Ronnie Shellist has a RANGE of amped harp sounds on it. I can't find some of my favs on youtube. But this one in pretty great.

This is an Amazing sound that really made me understand Kim Wilson. His groove, drive, rythm, .... seamless. And not too heavily distorted. It's still nice and warm.

Anyhow, we could go on for days here.

I love steve Guygers amped tone.

Pat Ramsey also had a quite unique amped tone.

I think I prefer the warm rounded tube distortion. I like it at the level where you have the ability to get some lightly driven (almost clean) single notes, but your TB slaps, chords, octaves, and dirty bled in notes really Fatten out. Very Dynamic. I think its pretty much what some guitar players strive for aswell. I believe they call it "touch sensitivity"??

I think that's a money sound.
