Well this was a long winded post, but fuckin captcha got me.

Anyhow the short version.

I got my first 1847 classic in yesterday. After playing it for all of 1 min. ... i felt compelled to tare it apart and shape and gap the reeds. ( I know ive got issues.)

Anyhow, like we were talking about before, the thing was rippin my hairs out. SO much worse than the noble. Idk why i thought this one would be different. So i took the covers off and rounded and polished the edges of the plates and covers. I was hoping it would make them come together better and not rip my hair out. Nope.

I really loved the comb of the classic though. The holes are shaped wider and its really nice. It also sounds great. So
I wasnt giving up that easy. I thought maybe ide try the session steel covers on it. I tried this on my noble, but it just wasnt right. But they fit GREAT on the classic! And the classic is much louder and crisper sounding than the Session.

I also put the Classic covers on the session. Again the noble covers weren't that good on the session, but the classic were great. The classics are also non vented, which i like.

Anyways this thing Plays GREAT Now. Ive only been playing it for a day, but so far i dig it.

I actually think i like both harps better with the others covers.

Nice. I'm still waiting for the wheel to turn and the post to appear about how great Lee Oskars are! The day must surely come...

Hahah ... MTG

Ive revisited my Lee Oskars a few times. They play pretty good. There's just a few things i can't get over with them.

Maybe ill put some work into trying to stop the squeeling reeds. Ive heard that people use clear nail polish.

The "My New Favorite Harp" was kindof a joke, but ...

This Classic is Awsome. These covers fit it great. I just wish they were new and shiny. It's SO LOUD and CRISPY!!

Im really digging it. We'll see how that holds up though. The full length covers just do it for me. They are so comfortable to play and hold. I want to try to open a pair and see how they sound/look then.

Full length covers are great, it's just a shame that they tend... And I say tend... To be on harps that is other expects I don't get along with.
Case in point, the bluesmaster has to be the most comfortable harp to play, but the overblow response and the tuning isn't to my liking.
Maybe your franken seydel is the answer!

I have a few frankeharps. See if the special 20 reed plates will fit on the bluesmaster furniture.

Play around with your favorite harp parts and see what works. I know alot of suzukis are interchangeable. Manji plates may even fit it.

The member 1847 on this forum said he buys his session steels with 1847 covers on them ootb. I'm not sure where. But if you find a combo that works for you that well, I'm sure you can figure out a way to buy them that way. Weather in parts or whatever. For instance its cheaper to buy 1847 or session steel covers, 1847 reed plates, and a blue moon custom 1847 comb than it is to buy an 1847. That's what i did. I bought the classic because i was just too curious about the stock comb. But i bought Rockin Rons Special. An 1847 in key of choice and an extra set of 1847 reed plates in key of choice. Then i ordered a blue moon comb for the second set of plates. I already had a set of 1847 covers i ordered for a session steel. But now I'm thinking I'll use the session steel covers on the new 1847

Anyways, you get the point. This is getting long winded. But mess around with some stuff. Take all your favorite parts and see what fits together. Lee oskar plates fit on a session steel for example. I played one that way for a while actually. I even drilled holes in a blues harp to fit manji cover plates on it. It was pretty killer once i sanded all the tines of the comb round, treated, and sealed it.

Suzuki is like that aswell . Alot of theirs are interchangeable .

If you come up with something you like lmk. Always curious what others are playing and find good.

Pretty nifty move Killa.

I thinks it's fair to say my new favourite harp is generally the one I've acquired most recently. :)

I have an 1847 set up by Ben Bouman which he supplied with full length covers (with the proper 1847 design).

Since then, I've ordered several harp parts from Seydel then put them together - typically this is so I can combine different keys/tunings with different colour combs.

It would be awesome if there were international standards for these things... I remember once trying to slide different harmonicas into the Suzuki Pipe Humming tube.

I like the way your Session Steel labelled 'A HARP'... just in case you ever forget what the instrument is called. ;)

Lol. Yes that was my first shot at labels. I used my label maker. I made one for my A and C. The reason i put "harp" on there (i think) was to make the label the length of the side. It seems those lil guys always flake off. But it's pretty funny when you say it that way. I never really thought about it. 8^)

I think my favorite new harp is really the Session Steel with 1847 covers. It's so much louder now and sounds a good bit clearer and crisp. And all the holes are just right there. Some harpz the comb is a bit recessed, like the manji. This is the other way around. You get a real purchaseon the harp too. It really plays great this way.

Your saying they make full length covers with the 1847 stamping? That's too cool. I need me about 4 or 5 sets of those. The 1847 stamp is awsome looking too.
