How do you make images smaller?

Ive changed the size of the actual image to low res. But it's still too big.

Mtg told me how to do it in the html code, but i forget.

I can't write the html as get's mangled by the website, but you can put e.g. width="200" in the img element. It only changes the display size though, so the browser still has to download the whole image.

I put width="40" into your img element there.

Aha got it. Copy from photobucket doesnt have a width parameter so i had to figure out where to put it in.

I learned C++ and qbasic but was always shite with html.

Thanks

Just started using google photos to store my pics on, so this is a test post. If it works, I have a new toy and can upload pics to the forum.

Hmmmm, it just posts the link, but not the photo itself. Anyone know whether google can be used for this and, if so, what I'm doing wrong?

Well I tried that, and when it didn't work, had a look at the graphic info to see if I could figure out why.

It tells me the type is text/html and the size is 0px × 0px, but I know it was a JPEG picture I uploaded to google pics. No wonder the dinosaurs died out. It was neither a meteorite nor a plague, they just couldn't be arsed any more when the world got too complicated for them :D

Thanks Lanthus. The reason I tried to do it via google pics, is cos I already have a google email address and didn't want to open yet another email address (with yahoo) just so I can use flickr. Starting to think that might be the best option though, cos it doesn't look like google pics is a viable option... for me, anyway ;).

One last test, to see if being married to a younger woman really does have advantages other than the obvious ones... ;)

I use photobucket. It's web based. And you don't have to write html code. You goto your photobucket image, share, embed, copy html code, paste in post, tada.

I was just trying to make it smaller and it was already at minimum resolution. So i had to size it down the way MTG said.

Actually, this is how you 'emboss' an image:

Yeah, Photoshop... This is what first comes to mind for graphic designers like myself.

A harmonica customiser, on the other hand, will have a different take on the word 'embossing'... ;)
