I just picked up a couple of Harpmasters , an Ab and Eb , off ebay for a really good price. Just trying to fill out my " kit " you know . I have mostly Lee Oskars , a few Special 20s , and a Fender Blues DeVille ( a couple of off brands too ,as spares ). I enjoy playing them all and didn't think it could get much better , for me personally , and my intentions on playing . When I tried out the Harpmasters , I was blown away ! Right out of the box the tone was great , I didn't have to fiddle with gaps or anything , and they seem really airtight . They are the easiest to play that I've ever tried with bends , ob's , etc. being almost effortless ; very responsive . I LIKE 'em , and would recommend them without hesitation . Only wish they came in Cm and Gm as those are the two keys of harp I'm needing to complete the set I want to have . I know that personal preferences are very subjective . I was looking for a great playing , modestly priced , harp that didn't beg for any modification , and I think I have found it in the Harpmaster .

They are good harps, well set up and we'll made for the price.

Yes, very good harps for the price and reasonably long lasting. The only thing I don't particularly like about them is that the top cover plate is a bit small for getting my lip and finger on.

What do you think of the Fender Blues DeVille? I'm keen to try one but the local music stores don't stock them and the costs of shipping for buying them online mean it's not worth it if they're not very good.

The groove in the reed plates that the covers fit into , is very deep ( there is a very high " lip " on the front of the plates ) . It actually would cut into my upper lip at the corners , if I played it for very long . I sanded most of that edge off and radiused it toward the cover . Now the harp is comfortable to play . I also filed the backs of the covers open a bit to get a bit more out of it . With those modifications , I like the Blues DeVille a lot and enjoy playing it . For the trouble involved though , I would go with a Harpmaster , L.O. , or SP20 unless you get a super deal on the Fender .

I love my Harpmaster. Is the same quality of any decent hohner (or the more expensives ones) but much cheaper.

Harpmasters are pretty good harps, especially for the price.

Tweak the gaps as you like, and flat-sand the draw plate, and you'll like them even more.

Thanks Halffast. I'd heard mixed reviews of the Fender and thought it was better to stick with what I know.
