I am playing a weekly show with a friend that consists of him and I on guitar while I sing. Occasionally we will bring in a full band for a bigger event at the venue, but for the most part they want to keep it quiet and kind of mellow. We were told with TWO WEEKS to prepare for the venue's Mardi Gras party, that we need to use a full band plus horns. I spent a couple of days trying to line up the musicians. Now that is done, and I need to get a good start on a setlist pretty quick. We will end up playing mostly traditional Blues, because that is what we do, and we will be lucky to get two rehearsals (zero is more likely), but I do need to get a few songs in that capture more of that New Orleans vibe.

So my question is, what are some essential songs for a Mardi Gras event? Are there any must play standards?

Thanks in advance for any help.
