I’m awaiting a vintage Astatic 30 with a chrome grille. The grille has lost a lot of chrome and is in a bit of a state. I plan on getting it rechromed...perhaps the whole mic, body and all. I want to strip the paint from the body and the chrome from the grille.

Does anyone know...FOR SURE...what the body and grille are made from? Aluminium? Zinc? Alloy? I don’t want to use anything that might pit the metal.
