Buddy Greene--Mike Stevens, Mike Caldwell.
I like Tony Eyers, not exactly country--more like bluegrass and old time . . .

All of those mentioned above and Todd Parrot. Listening to and learning from those guys will give you a great foundation to build on.

Don Brooks was a prolific session player and an important part of Waylon Jennings' band.

PT Gazell toured with Johnny Paycheck, though he's more of a jazz player now (like Jellyroll Johnson).

Howard Levy played on a Dolly Parton record, so...

Also Jimmie Riddle and Onie Wheeler, both of whom played on Roy Acuff records as well as on their own. Riddle was also the guy who did the weird vocal "eefin'" on the TV program Hee Haw.

Wayne Raney and Lonnie Glosson both worked with the Delmore Brothers, often playing harmonica duets, on early pre-ockabilly "Hillbilly Boogie" recordings.
