Like a good many of my hillbilly brethren, I'm of a heavily Scot-Irish descent. Thus, I suppose it was inevitable that I finally give this style of music a shot.

Found the backing track over at harmonica boogie. Kind of fun to work on. Not sure I'd want to play this stuff all the time, but it did stretch my brain a bit.

My browser is telling me I don't have the required plugin. Do you know which one is needed, or alternatively, what sort of file the link leads to?

Hey Winslow . . . I just changed it to a direct link, as apparently the embed for audio files (per the forum FAQ) is sort of a hit or miss thing

Thanks

Nice!

You have cleanness and accuracy going. To deepen your interpretation of this jig, I'd suggest:

1) Figure out where you want to place rhythmic emphasis to give it a danceable dimension. Sometimes it might be on the first note of a three-note group, sometimes on the second, sometimes on the third. Experiment and record yourself.

2) (Closely related) Figure out where you should articulate individual notes, especially at the starts of phrases or phrase components, and at emphasis points.

3) You can be a bit more free with the flow of 8th notes. They don't have to be delivered with precisely the same length. The first note of the group of three needs to land on the beat, but the two that follow can be interpreted a bit more flexibly, often by coming a bit late.

Winslow - Thanks for the great advice. I appreciate that

Tony - Wow . . . I'm a big fan of zooks (have built a couple) but have never seen anybody play zook with a rack. He's fantastic.
