Hey guys, I know a lot of people like to provide fake names when they register for websites. For years it was pretty standard websecurity. There are occasions though when it causes problems. Our password retrieval system is kind of wonky and to protect your safety we can't just reset your password unless we can confirm you are who you say you are.

Sometimes that's as simple as seeing that you are contacting us from the same email you registered with, but sometimes you lose access to those emails, which is when things get complicated. If you didn't register with your real name you are out of luck. You'll have to reregister, which will mean losing your old username. It also, technically means you'll have two accounts, which is one of the things we will ban you for (we've had problems with sock puppets in the past.)

If you find yourself in that situation, contact us so we can make a note of it so you don't get in trouble. In the meantime, if you are registered under a fake name consider updating your account (add it to your signature or contact me at the membership email) so that if something does happen we can get you squared away.

We never share your real name. It's just something we need for backend verification.

Thanks,
Nate
