Is the pearwood comb of a new stock Marine Band 1896 sealed?

I am referring to the ones with the current box packaging and "BluesHarmonica.com" free month coupon card.

Thanks.

They are sealed better than the old black-and-orange painted ones. I've heard classic MB gets one coat of sealer while the deluxe and crossover models get three coats.

I haven't had any swelling problems with the new 1896 harps. The additional coats of sealer are more about smoothness on the lips, which is nice.

the newer marine band 1896 are great in every way.....the ones made in 80s and 90s were horrible

Just remember to only get them at a reputable online harmonica specialist store because they would have the newer fully sealed stock and in a brick and mortar store, you take HUGE chances because their stock could'be been there for many years and it's a big-time possibility of getting the old stock and the happy honker points out correctly how to identify the newer stock.

Every Marine Band 1986 I have gotten recently have been arguably the best OOTB harps I have ever purchased. And they all, no matter the key, overblow well out of the box. I've been seriously impressed. No swelling problems.

Their present stock is their best OOTB harps since the 1950's and I have tons of older Hohners including several pre-WWII harps and the new ones, tho isn't quite as good as the pre-WWII's IMO, they are LIGHT YEARS BETTER than anything they've made in decades, especially when compared to the horrible quality years of 1981-1995.
