Hi folks... Looking for a way to run 2 mics through the same effects rig. Not trying to play both at the same time, just both be ready to go at the same time. Tried splitters but running into low z vs high z issues with some of the mics... Anyone know if a dual input preamp at the front of the effects chain would work?

Check out the Mackie 402-VLZ3 4-Channel mixer. It has hi z and low z input. Very compact and easy to dial in.

Looks like the Mackie 402VLZ4 replaces the 402-VLZ3.
Also handy for attenuating hot mics into a guitar amp without losing overdriven sound of mic.

Thx for the lead on a mixer idea... I looked at the specs but I don't see any reference to low or high z inputs.
I did dig out some old school low impedance mics and ran them through my current studio mixer (all low z inputs) and Wow... They just growled... So much better than the in line barrel transformersVGfHrk

You can take a look at the user manual here:
http://mackie.com/sites/default/files/PRODUCT%20RESOURCES/MANUALS/Owners_Manuals/402VLZ4_OM.pdf

Go to pg. 12. It will take xlr, has phantom power switch, and has 1/4" balanced or unbalanced inputs. Small size, but lots of options.

I have had no problem using hi z or low z mics with this unit. But it might not be what you are looking for.
