I wish happy and egg-rich Easter to everybody with this video where I'm trying to sing and play the traditional sad song St James Infirmary for the first time. So I'm practicing it while cooking the brakfast in Africa. Why I share this with you? Actually I try to raise a disscussion: Is this Forum really usefull to everybody?
I’ve been a member about one year and I’ve noticed that allmost all videos, which members or Adam are publishing here are ”final versions” of something. I mean very good playing, very fast playing, exact pendings and overblows, so allways something perfect. This has raised the step so that new harmonica players, beginners, less advanced and so on, they are afraid to publish their own videos here. This results, that they can’t get any comments or advices from the harp players here, for example, what is good and what could be better done.
There are many and all kind of lesson in the YouTube, but the only way to get comments on ones own playing, with is the best way to be better player, is to buy and pay of Skype lessons. There is huge amount of knowledge on this Forum of harmonica playing and I know that here are also people who are willing to share their knowledge for free (when I have asked, I've got very valuable comments. To mention few: GreyOwl, Chester Draw, ridge, regonzab, Thieven Heatthen, The Iceman. I’d like to thank them all now, I have decided not to thank after the comment, because you might think that I just raise my video to the first page that way)
So my proposal is to change the situation somehow – I don’t know how – could it be a separate ”corner” on this Forum for videos one wants to be commented, could it be a agreed prefix in the post like ”ILTHYCOMP” (I’d Like To Have Your Comments on My Playing) or something. This could serve also as a warning to those who are not willing to help anybody and maybe even a warning that some bullshit can be expected. Here is my examble.(ex. only-no need to comment (but allowed if you want))

Maraboy,
I joined this forum when I was a veteran of nearly 30 years' playing. Not that I know it all but I'm happy with what I do and my learning style. So if I do post a video it would be more to show how I do a song. My wife is my guitar partner and we have been a roots/ blues/Americana duo for over 14 years. In that time we have learned a lot of songs and for a long time we posted them on youtube. Recently we took a lot off. We do still have live material there and on reverbnation, see the links below. I think St. James is on youtube on a songlist. WE played Teddy's Juke Joint about a year ago and had a few videos made at the gig.

I see a lot of videos from new players on facebook's Harmonica Jam page. And some here as well.

I would have no objection to that prefix to denote a request to review one's work. Let's see how others feel about it. Hopefully Nate or Adam will have an opinion here.
A little later I'll give your video a look, once the household is up and about! (We live in a studio apartment and the bed is 4 feet from the computer.)

Maraboy, the url above you can copy and paste to another window. It's our version of a timeless New Orleans blues song. Saint James Infirmary. We have played this live and rehearsed it probably 500 times. It's like a hand fitting into a glove.

Repetition strengthens and confirms anything.
