Haven’t posted in a million years, and not looking to stir the pot, but would recommend that anyone with a passing interest in the lives and credentials of harmonica players around the world use Google Chrome browser to translate the Iran Harmonica Team page into English. Talented men and women! Some have even studied with Steve Baker. Perhaps someone with tech skills could post a link to an already translated page.

We have such a great Iranian population in LA, I hope the Iran Harmonica Team stops by for some Mexican food and a trip to Disneyland. Also, they are more than welcome to stop by the Maui Sugar Mill Saloon in Tarzana on Monday nights for the best jam on the West Coast.

Hollistonharper, related to that, if you type harmonica into google translate and cut and paste what it returns into YouTube searches you get entirely different selections of videos. I made a complete list of the translations intending to post them here, but the forum doesn't like special characters.

I think it was actually an Iranian video that I saw that had the most 'do it at all costs' harmonica hack I've ever seen. The guy was playing guitar and harp but he didn't have a rack so he stacked a pile of books on the table and stuck the harmonica between some pages. Necessity is the mother of invention!

Japan, China, Brazil, Iran and Greece where, if I remember correctly, where the countries I got the most hits from the translations with. That could just be because of a better translation for harmonica from Google, but 3 of those countries have their own harmonica companies, so I guess it makes sense.

Something to consider about Iran and the harmonica players there.
They can have a difficult time accessing instruments and parts to keep their instruments playing.
I once mailed a box of old harmonicas and reedplates to Iran so the players could do maintenance and keep the instruments going. I’m sure there are plenty of players who could use more parts if anyone has old beater chromatics or diatonics laying around. Strip them down to parts and put them in the mail labeled as “broken harmonica parts for repairs” so there isn’t a big import fee. Share the music.
