A friend has a small bass amp with the above name. An inexpensive little thing that he possibly could sell to me.

I wonder, has anyone tried this with harp?

The reason I ask is that for us living in apartments, testing out amplifiers is a bit more difficult than for you with basements, houses and what not, so before I even venture into such an undertaking it´s nice to have a recommendation.

If apartment dwelling is a factor in your amp choice, I might suggest a Digi-Tech RP amp modeling pedal through a headset. There is hundreds of hours of experimenting and exploring in those units and all the while you are practicing and developing mic technique. I have not tried it, but I can see no reason why the USB connection would not allow recording onto your PC. If that Silvertone model is a tube amp, forget everything I've said. Buy it for your collection.

We have lived in apartments for several months now. During the day we occasionally set up the 12 watt amps and the 4 channel p.a. just to test everything out for when we need it to gig. We've had no complaints if it's daytime.

If that amp is very small it may not be worth taking out to a gig or jam. But it may have good tone if it's a tube amp. Worth messing around with. In '16 we had Fender Vibro Champs rated at 5 watts. Great to play at home and record but terrible in a medium room or outdoors. Total distortion.

Thanks guys.
On the apartment issue: where I live it´s recommendable to avoid protracted amp tryout sessions.

@gThievin Heathen: Since several years back I´m the owner of a RP150. Also bought Richard Hunter´s settings. I´ve fiddled with it for hours and hours in order to find a warm, neutral sound: some bottom w/o any more distortion than comes from the mic etc.
No way.

But if you want hard rock, spacey, far out guitar sounds -- go ahead and buy one! Those sounds are all over the place.
If you´d hope that among the 50 factory presets there was one called "jazz", then go elsewhere. (Maybe the newer versions are better.)
As for using it in live situations, with harmonica, it´s a no go for me. Too complicated and not enough air-moving-power.(I´ve tried.)

My thought on the Silvertone was for something a bit more capacious than my Roland Mobile, but I hear you Goldbrick, thanks, and do not set my hopes high. (I hate that Pignose sounds BTW.)

Martin - I do have an RP350. IIRC, the Fender Twin Reverb amp model is a good starting place, but I don't recall using it through headphones only. I really don't know how not to disturb the neighbors. I imagine a particularly sensitive neighbor, which is the kid I always seemed to have, could hear acoustic harp.
