Last night our local CU Folk & Roots Festival organization had Joe Filisko and Eric Noden as the headliners in the local Winter Weekend mini festival in Urbana. As usual Joe and Eric performed great music as a duo, with Eric playing amazing steel resonator guitar while Joe did things musically with harmonicas that blew my mind! The crowd (including a number of harp players) loved the show.
My Urbana Backyard Barbecue Band was the opening happy hour show from 5-7, with another band between us and the Roots Duo. I had a great time playing and singing blues, country, and honky tonk music those 2 sets with the BBQ Band. We have a band member who plays double lap steel really well, and who is a great soloist. I always am inspired by his music. When I play in this band with lap steel I often think of different lines to play than I would when playing with regular guitar only.
Tonight the headline act is our local favorite blues band, Kilborn Alley.
