Way cool. Exposure to this sort of stuff is one of the things that keeps bringing me back here. :)

I met her once in Amite LA. I told the Bubba Deputy that I was not going to consent to a search of my auto on purely constitutional reasons. He said he could get the drug dogs. I said OK, go get 'em. 45 minutes later, Poke Salad/Animal Control Anney shows up with some stinking pound puppy. Bubba jerks on the leash, says the dog is indicating drugs, and proceeds to take my car apart. No drugs found. Anney was pissed. She wanted to feed me to the gators. I don't think she was planning on coming to work that Saturday. - Funny thing. One day I was telling Jeffrey Barnes that story and he knew I was talking about Amite before I even said where it happened. Seems he'd had a similar experience along that stretch of I55.

It's a great song for harp. Not difficult but the chord changes aren't where you expect them to be. Try to solo on it. It's cool when you get it.

@ 1847 I turned 13 in the summer of '69. I think you're right. I can't remember much of anything.

I was 14 in '69 and not yet "hip". I remember a lot, there just was not a lot going on in the hinterlands where I grew up. Now the 70's? Lots of blank spots.....

I don't consider that a novelty song. You can see this is the groove that Creedance Clearwater came from. I've actually eaten Polk Salad. You harvest it in the Spring and saute like a green. Later in the season it becomes poisonous.

Thieven' Heathen - That incident rings so true during the years of Segregation back in the 20th century. Were you an out of State visitor? Like someone from up North (NJ, NY, etc)? I myself one year wanted to make a pilgrimage to The Crossroads. But being I'm from N.J. someone once told me that if I did go, I'd have a visit from police officers in every town I'd be passing through.
