Hello everybody,

I restarted playing in a new band and we are 4 months old.

We are playing a variety of tunes from Little Walter to more heavely blues like SRV.

We are 5 in our band : 1 drummer, 1 bass, 1 rythm guitar, 1 lead guitar (and the singer) and me with the harp.

I play through a Marble Harpwood 4x8", about 30W. We play mostly in small stages.

We did our first gig 1 month ago and we had great feedback. People was happy and we had a great time.

However, I played my amp without going through a PA. I had a hard time to play "like everything is alright". The reason? Our drummer set the stage volume very high. So I had almost no dynamic range and I was forced to play as loud as possible. Staying musical is a hard thing at this volume.

The thing is our drumer love playing in several styles but he's not in love with blues.

So we try to "educate" him being more soft and dynamic.

One other thing. To be heard I used a Kinder Anti feedback because I was standing one meter from my amp due to the small stage. It was very painful for my ears.

So for the next gigs, I'm going to play with earplugs and I'm going to pick up the amp through an PA system. I hope our drumer won't act as "animal" in the Mupper Show.

Instead of the Kinder AF+, I'm going to use a Weber Minimass 50W (an attenuator which act as a dummy speaker). It works veeeeery well with harp amps and it's easy t get a beautiful tone for the room you are. It helps for the feedback and makes big amps smaller. It's loud enough for monitoring myself and the PA compensates the foolish drummer.

Attenuators works great!

I hope you get my point.

Best,

Samuel
