Bell is a master of tone, groove and flow, but I wouldn't call what he does "minimalism". Lee Oskar would be a better fit for the term, as he his spaces are longer and his phrases are shorter. He does much more with much less. Bell's phrases are closer together, note choices are solid and exquisitely shaped, and he does,at times , alternate effectively between breathy, rhythmic chord work and swift riffs for added tension. Not crowded choruses, of course, but not minimal. Tasty is the term I'd use. But a smoking player all the same, certainly under considered.
