Just got the news, Sonny Payne, of KFFA radio in Helena Arkansas, has passed. Age 92. Hosted King Biscuit Time radio since 1951. Longest running blues radio show ever anywhere.
About 10 years ago Jo and I popped in at the station for a visit and he had a cancellation, so we got to be his guests!

He played a couple of cuts from our first (unofficial) CD, Back Porch Blues, and was a very gracious host with a great sense of humor.

We had hoped to get back to visit with him again but something always came up.

Moment of silence for A REAL BLUES SUPPORTER please.

As far as I know it is. I imagine the folks there will keep the show going in some form.

I'm very sad to hear that. Sonny was a legend in his own time and a national treasure. King Biscuit Time cannot be he same without him. To say he will be missed would be an understatement. I second that, jbone. Please give a moment of silence for Sunshine Sonny Payne. A huge supporter of the blues.
