Hi,
I'd like ask you help with Little Milton's "Dead Love" lyrics, particullary the part ..."my eyes are dry, but my heart feels like ?????". I have 3 recordings of these song but can't figure out what they sing at this part. Thanks in advance

On the one YouTube video I can find, and through my crappy phone speaker it sounds like "my heart feels like a ton of lead." I'll try to find a better recording when I am at some real speakers and listen again.

Sounds like ton of lead to me too... which as we all know weighs more than a ton of anything else! :)

Haha true nacoran! My heart feels like a ton of feathers just doesn't have the same impact.

Thank you everybody. I think I wouldn't figure this part. First time I heard this song was Kim Wilson, and then Darrel Nulish, 2 of my favourite singer/harp player. It doesn't feature harmonica, bu I think it's a great song.
Thanks again!!!

SweetBlood, one of my favorite lines in a piece of music is a spoken word answering machine recording at the start of Queensryche's 'Empire'.

"I'm sorry, it's starting to hit me like a a two ton heavy thing."

You're right. A ton of feathers doesn't work like a ton of bricks or lead lyrically. I always liked Queensryche's take on it, because when you feel like you've been hit by a truck or a ton of lead you are kind of stunned, and it demonstrated that really well with the narrator not being able to find the words. I may actually have to try to borrow that technique for a lyric, now that I think about it. If I was going for a straight weight comparison I think I'd pick something that is usually associated with a weight, like saying, I feel like I was hit with a 20 lb. sledge...

But lead works nicely in this tune.
