I am learning about calculating frequencies for the purpose of tuning/retuning chords. I'm new at this and invite the input of experts. My spreadsheet is at:

As a recovering accountant, I’m finding that ya gotta allow the left brain linear thinking brain cells that used spreadsheets to die so the right brain cells needed for music and creativity can thrive.

Yikes!!! Left brain cells must die(?) The problem with that, my left brain is the only side that's making any money.

Beer kills brain cells, I just can't remember which ones, odd.

I have revised the aforementioned post to include a simple experiment that you can try for $0.00. Use your ears and decide which version of the minor 7th chord revs your engine!

"As a recovering accountant"...

I wish we had an easy way to mark posts down. At the end of the year we could have a contest for the best comment in each category- general life, general blues, general harmonica, funniest...

Thanks for making me smile!

And on the topic, I know there are a billion different temperament schemes out there in the world (has anyone ever played with old piano schemes like Well-tempered or anything?) but I know Chris Michalek was doing something with the fibonacci series at one point. I don't know exactly what, but I know it works well in other mathematical situations.

nacoran: Regarding the "billion different temperament schemes" ....

This is a beautiful thing about electronic spreadsheets: they are so easy to modify. For example, changing the cell that says 443 to some other reference tone makes the spreadsheet automatically and instantly recalculate all subsequent figures. Forum members may request a copy of my Excel document. Make it what you wish.

Ianerd, I don't know if Excel supports it (they did at one time, but the feature got depreciated) but Google Sheets has a feature to embed sheets in posts/sites. I'm messing around with it right now for something else, but I've got to figure out how to resize iframes. (It looks pretty simple, it's just been a long week.)

Nate--

I am conversant with Google Sheets, as well. I will look into your idea and see if I can make it work on this forum or some related forum. Thanks for the suggestion.

My spreadsheet sobriety has made it another day. Hallelujah. Time to work the right brain and practice chugging in 12 bar format now.
