I just got a Yonberg, their top model with the steel plates and reeds. I know the reed plates are made by Seydel, but I am real impressed by how well it plays. I have a Seydel 1847 silver and I was not real impressed with it. I thought it sounded dull and stiff. At least to my liking the Yonberg really outperforms the 1847. Up till now I thought the Crossovers were the best sounding and responding, but so far I think for close to the same money I like the Yonberg better.I was kind of not expecting to like it because I thought it was going to be a 1847 in different covers, but I wanted to try it. It is nothing like the Seydel and this is one harp I felt was a good purchase. By the way, I am a low to middle intermediate player, this is my feelings on the harp. I know everybody has their own likes.

I have not tried one. So is the overall shape a better fit for play? Is it more airtight? How does it stand up cost wise to a Crossover or 1847 (two more harps I have yet to try)?

Well it cost 75.00 so at non sale prices it is cheaper than 1847 and just a little cheaper than crossover. To me playability and air tightness the crossover is comparable and the 1847 less so to me. I like the Yonberg shape and smooth mouthpiece feel better,it feels good, slick and smooth. Although the reeds and plates are basically the same as all other harps in design and function,I like the hightec design of the rest of the harp, how it disassembles and looks. It looks like something new and worth the higher price compared to some other harps. Like I said, I am not a expert player and I have a lot of other regular harps that I like, but I was really pleased with this purchase.

Maybe you were lucky.
I bought two when curiosity got the best of me.
A and G.
Both were crap in my opinion.
Sound quality, response both suck.
My 1847’s and Session Steels way better in all respects, even after re-gapping the A.
Learned my lesson the hard way.
