Has anyone replaced their Hohner Crossovers Comb? Did I improve it?

The standard comb is pretty good. Being bamboo, it won't swell with moisture. You could flat sand it. Or buy and upgrade comb from Tom Halchak at Blue Moon. But first, try playing it stock.

Yes--the stock Crossover combs are not optimally flat. Of course, you can flat sand them instead of replacing them.

I bought some Crossovers several years ago. I replaced the stock combs with Hetrick bamboo combs which were flatter and significantly improved the responsiveness of the harps.

No, it doesn’t need a custom comb, as a general rule. Sure, you might get one that would benefit but on the whole the comb is why you’re paying the extra $

If you upgrade it with a Sjoeberg comb you will get a louder and crisper sound. You will also get improved response in your harmonica as well as better playing comfort.

I didnt like the rounded front of the tines of the comb. It didnt seem like I was getting a good seal like I could on a regular Marine Band. I put on a Zajac comb and I was suprised by the increase in response. I thought it had good response stock but it is better now.
