Which Frank... we had two famous Franks. I lost touch with both of them. I still talk with Billy Shines and Nasty Old Dog off forum.

I do like saying the name Joe Lee Bush because I know he doesn't like turning up in searches related to this site. Joe Lee Bush was funny that way.

The ones who just don't come around anymore though... Stick, GH, Tooka... (he does great watercolors on YouTube).

Edit- oops, typo...

He was... maybe the best harmonica player? I think he was pretty good on playing the harmonica.

I miss Chris Michalik. He stirred up a lot of people, but there was always at least a nugget of wisdom in all his posts.
Frank lives in my area, but I haven't seen him in a long, long time.

Also Tookatooka. I think he lurks, but like some of us oldtimers doesn't have much to post anymore.

Who was the guy that had a ton of posts? Bought lots of gear and then I think, just gave up playing. That's going to bug me til I remember his name.
It was Jon Sparrow!

Plain Frank is/was a great singer/harper/performer. Jodanchudan also v good. I miss Geordiebluesman's humour and attitude. He's been through tough times it seems but posted something a while back. Hope he's doing all right.

I was using the Forum search the other day and was quite amazed how many of the contributors names seem to have disappeared off the forum.
I miss Harp ninja and Hawkeye Kane and the others above as well.

I think a lot of folks, like me, have gotten caught up with other life things that have reduced our time available to post. Plus, sorta sad to say it (since I started it and still help to maintain it), but I think the Facebook group has taken over in terms of popularity for most users. It's easier to post links and photos and stuff, and there's no captcha over there. ;)

DanP, actually the jerky deal, if I remember correctly, was with someone in Scandinavia. NOD and TN were sort of linked together because they had a fight that ran across several threads.

Some of these guys still stop by occasionally. (I don't think of Isaac or Andrew Z. as gone, for instance).

I think Isaac may be right about the FB group. I looked into trying to integrate the two groups better, but the features FB had that used to make that (fairly) easy got discontinued. I spent a week pulling out my hair trying to get the code to work but even with help from someone who actually knows HTML it was beyond me.

There are so many people who have been forum members over the years. Dutchbones, Dave Payne, Big Nancy (RIP), some other ones whose names are on the tip of my tongue... there was someone from Hawaii (not MP), Zhin... and some of them only really were in touch with people on the forum.

I wish we had a user searchable directory. I can look through the forum membership from the admin side. There are pages and pages and pages of members. It would be cool to have a directory where anyone who made their email info public could contact each other, see how many posts people have, when the last time someone posted was...

Zhin is still active in music. I'm still friends with him on Facebook. Not sure why he doesn't post here anymore. I don't think he posts to the Facebook group either...

For me, it's just too much of a pain to log in and type the captcha when I only get a fee minutes of downtime a day to check on my forums. I'm always already logged into Facebook, and the FB group has a lot more activity these days than this board. I also got "harped out" in terms of harmonica topics I want to chat about on forums - it was seeming to me to be the same old topics again and again, and I just lost interest in debating. I became a classic "lurker" I suppose.

It's also been tough to consistently play music since I moved and got a "real job". I just play for myself these days - no more playing out on the street or even jamming with friends. No real time for it these days...

I've turned to my other favorite pastime of Photography more and more to get my creative needs met. I've enjoyed improving in that, and seems to fit into my current life situation better.

Mooncat isn't around as much as he used to be.

It's funny but one of the things I like about this place is it's NOT Facebook. I get tired of everything belonging to Zuckerberg.

Slaphappy,

I concur! I don't have a Facebook account, and have no desire to have one. In fact, this is the only online forum I visit, and one of the big attractions is that it's about as far removed from Planet Zuck as you can get

Then again, I also have an analog radio in my living room.
