if you want to put a chevy motor in a jaguar you need to remove the fuel injectors and install a 4 barrel carb.

Don’t know specifically but it’s still gonna need a high impedance pot, something more than 1meg

Hi 1847,
Seems you are automatically attracted to all of my my posts, but you've never ever actually offered any constructive help or usable information.

This time I asked a very specific question.
I wasn't asking for advice.
I wasn't asking for opinions.
And really wasn't expecting any unfunny, irrelevant & inappropriate similes.

Just the value of the standard pot used with the crappy Japanese element that Hohner used that I am about to replace.

Such a simple and very specific question that could have saved me a bit of time.

Is it me or is it getting chilly here?

I used Google to find this:

adding-shure-cm-to-blues-blaster-and-roadhouse-microphones

The page is about putting a CM in a Blues Blaster or Roadhouse mic. It discusses changing the volume pot to work with a CM and gives info.

Just scroll down to the "replacing the volume control" section where it gives some relevant info about the two different volume pots that were in the original crappy crystal element mic.

This might also be of use:

I hope it helps.

you are installing a controlled magnetic into a blues blaster. you will need to replace the pot. the correct pot if i am not mistaken is 100k.

you will need a gasket also.

How did you guys work out that John wants to install a CM? I can’t see that in the thread.
John, I’m sorry, I thought you were asking about the value of pot to use with the Japanese crystal element.

I’ll reformulate my post: the resistance of the pot you have will be too high to function effectively with a CM element. It will work but you’ll have pretty much on and off, nothing in between. You want something like 250k or down to 100k for that element. The pot which came stock with the BB was 1meg or higher

I only linked the article because it in the volume control section it included information on the volume control pots on BluesBlaster mics.

1847 may have taken my link to indicate that was John M G's purpose in asking for the value. I have no idea of his reasons for asking, just was offering info.

Got it. I thought it must have been something like that but I hadn’t seen it.
Cool.
And yeah, Doug, you had it all covered anyway. I just had to self correct when I saw I must be waiting on the wrong platform.

Hi Dougsharps
That's the perfect link. I never came across it in all my google searches while doing my background checks. That is the exact info I needed.
I have the CM element, new gasket and I did get a 100K pot, but the pot stem is going to be on the short side
Thank you all very much for the help.
Cheers John

On the Blues Blasters, when they first came out, many had 250K pots and then later 500K pots, and for both crystal and ceramics, they were the WRONG ones and the very last production, which was taken over by Hohner finally had the right one, which was 5meg.

Most of the time for CM/CR cartridges, the pot is usually 500K.
