I’m sure many of you are aware that a raging wildfire in California took the life of one of our brave young fire fighters yesterday morning.
Cory Iverson was the 32 year old husband of our niece Ashley Iverson. Cory was also the proud father of their two year old daughter with a second child due in a few months.
Naturally, family and friends are devastated by this tragedy and it is a personal blow to anyone working in this dangerous profession.
Cory was a wonderful man, husband and father. He left us as a true hero, while fighting fire in explosive conditions in an attempt to keep others safe.
I feel somewhat helpless. I’m simply asking you to spread some positive thoughts, prayers, or maybe share this at your next performance...
You got it dchurch. Not sure when we'll be on a stage next but we may do a video and dedicate it. I will discuss with Jolene and we'll see. At any rate we do send healing thoughts their and your way. ----------
Sorry for your loss. I'm not performing much these days, but I shared the GoFundMe on FB and chipped in a couple bucks. (Sorry, it's tight this time of the year). :(
God's comfort too you and family.Having watched this monster wind driven fire come within four blocks of my home the dedication and courage of these fire fighters is beyond words.so very sad that we lost one.

I'm in San Diego--they're doing something to honor him tomorrow . . .
"A four-hour funeral procession will be held Sunday, beginning about 10 a.m. at the Ventura County Medical Center. The procession will travel south through San Diego County on Interstate 15 and arrive at the El Camino Memorial Park about 2:15 p.m."
It's really sad he had to die, this fire is still a threat to the Southland, the winds are continuing--my brother in law is in Ojai, they kept from burning down (so far) but the air is toxic.
I’m sorry to hear that each of you have been closely affected. We pray for the neighbors, families and friends that suffer from all types of grief from this disaster. When Ashley was a youngster their family was directly threatened by a fire purposely set below their home. Although the home was miraculously saved Ashley suffered a personal fear of fire. She never dreamed she would fall in love with a firefighter. Now this.
We pray that Ashley can find comfort from today's procession. I know the display of honor and support will be outstanding. Ashley is a strong young lady. She is keeping her faith close to her heart. She says “We’re bringing him home today” and thank you to all.
Thank you Jbone for the soulful performance and dedication and please share our gratitude with Jolene. “Bringin’ It On Home To You” amazingly similar to what Ashley had to say about today’s event “We are bringing him home today”.
---------- It's about time I got around to this.

I am so touched. Jo says we are grateful to be of any help in sad or hard times. Our mission is usually one of spreading joy. In this case a bit of comfort however slight. Music is a touchstone to the soul, whatever we may be going through. Recently we lost our home to a disaster of a different sort. Our travel trailer, which we were touring in and held all of our possessions, was infested with some very vicious bugs, Asian lady beetles. Thousands of them decided to live with us, get in everything, bite us, and make it impossible to live in our home any more. We could not root them out. We had to give it up and find an apartment. We lost so much, but what has kept us sane and even happy, is playing music and lately posting for all to share. If we could provide a small comfort that means a lot to us. ----------
The support shown at today’s procession by the fire personnel, EMS, police, and the public was phenomenal. Every overpass was covered by people and equipment. The opposite lanes of oncoming traffic were amazing. Drivers were consistently moving into the left/fast lane to slow or stop as the procession passed by. People along the roadside waved flags and shouted words of hope. Ashley cried with tears of grief and gratitude while shouting thank you to the crowds.
Thank you Jbone, I’m sure you know that when things are grim all support is much appreciated. I was on the phone today with Ashley’s Aunt and Uncle from La Honda, CA. We talked about your dedication “Bringin’ It On Home To You”. There were cries of blessing for all of the heartfelt support from so many different directions. So yes, it means a lot.
Thank you Rgsccar, The donations are a lifesaver and I believe that sharing the page is one of the best things we can do. We can’t expect people to empty their wallets, especially during the holidays. But a lot of affordable size donations add up to serious help.
*I know many more people read these posts than ever actually write something. So, “Thank you” to all of the readers for your prayers and kind thoughts as well.
