I’ve stumbled across a writer who has done some excellent work investigating early blues artists. Here’s a great piece he did on discovering the true identities of Geeshie & Elvie.

And here’s a two part article on connection between early Blues & a reviewer for the Chicago Defender newspaper & the writer of the Indiana state anthem.

This writer has written a ton of other music related articles for The NYT and GQ - he’s very thorough, insightful, funny & iconoclastic. And a more than just a bit lee-ber-all, which I quite appreciate. Enjoy.
